The name "Il Giardino" is a geographical name. Older maps show the name "Il Paradiso". One could therefore rightly speak of a "paradise garden". The landscape in southern Tuscany is less conical than the hilly landscape of Siena, surrounded by cypresses. The slopes of Mount Amiata, the highest mountain of Tuscany, are wooded. In the restaurants many mushrooms and wild boar. Here you can not see Tuscany as you know it from calendar pictures. In winter falls snow, the Monte Amiata is considered a ski resort. In the summer, especially in August, heat and drought make the inhabitants and travelers also here.
